Family Values Tour
Arrowhead Pond, Anaheim - October 23, 1999

The guitar fest known as The Family Values Tour rolled into town and proceeded to demonstrate why Perry Ferrell washed his hands of the whole multi-band tour thing. At best, this tour was uneven. Staind, Primus and Blackout (Method Man and Redman) aren't even worth mentioning, save for Staind's half hearted attempts to get the crowd at least some what into their set. Frankly, Blackout made the evening almost laughable with their insistence onextolling the virtues of smoking weed and flipping the world a collective "bird".

Filter woke the joint up in a hurry with a jolt of pyrotechnics and heavy rock/industrial. Much more apparent this time around was Richard Patrick's intense desire for melody. While the major appeal of Filter will always remain in the form of pounding guitar, the highlight of their set was built around the slower melodious tunes, mainly from the new album "Title Of Record". Finishing off their show for the night, Filter pulled out a fierce, bonecrushing version of "Hey Man, Nice Shot" that left everyone blind from the light show, deaf from the intensity and quite satisfied.

Headlining the night were the much anticipated Limp Bizkit. To say they were disappointing would be an understatement. Almost right from the start, Limp Bizkit's unique brand of rap meets rock was completely overshadowed by the constant whining of lead singer Fred Durst. Beset by bass problems of some sort, Durst flew offstage in a rage, threatening violence on the basstech.

Not satisfied to stop there, after almost every song their were complaints from the band because the show wasn't a sell out. And not wanting him to feel left out, Durst decided to let the lighting guy have it telling him "you need to learn how to work the lights". If it weren't for the saving graces of the finale, "Nookie", Limp Bizkit would have been a waste of time.
