Kurt on Playing the drums
Kurt - Um, it started out as this thing, because I wanted to play in my friends punk band, and the only instrument that wasn't being played at the time was the drums. So I rented a drum set. But, it really became a thing for me when I started taking lessons after I graduated from college, and I met Scott in about 1990, and a, since then that's been all I really wanted to do.
Kurt on His love of Swing
Kurt - It's always been there, my grandpa used to play in a swing band. He played for 40 years, he's a musician. So a, I've always heard the music, but I never really played it 'cause I didn't know anyone who was good enough to play it, you know, and when I met Scott he decided that he wanted to play swing and so, we started doin' it.
Kurt on BBVD's originality
Kurt - Yea, it's a really big deal. I didn't want to play in a cover band, I didn't wanna, you know, . . . my choice wasn't to be a musician and play in the top 40, it was to just play the drums because I love to play them. So, that's what I would do, and fortunately Scott had the same idea. you know, we wanted to play music, not for a living, we just wanted to play because we love doing it. Fortunately now, we're getting paid to do what we love to do.
Kurt on Being the drummer in 'the back'
Kurt - It really depends on the venue. For right now this is just a short tour, until we have total control of our stage show, it depends on if it's alive or not. But, I don't care, it doesn't bother me, because I can always see the people in the front, and I generally can't see much more than that, because of the lights in my eyes and everything, but I'm not really that concerned about being seen all the time. I think later on, when we have control over the stage, we're gonna design a set, so that visually it'll be a lot more stimulating, but it doesn't bother me.
Kurt on Signing Autographs
Kurt - I signed my name once, and I never signed it again in my life, yes. Um, I'm glad because I'm getting a lot better at my signature. I was never really happy with my signature, but I think in the last week I really hit my stride. Yea, you can actually read what I'm writing.
Kurt's Last Words
Kurt - I just wanna thank everyone, because without them we wouldn't really be able to be doing what we're doing right now. It's the people that we play for, that's why we do it. Every show we play we try to give as much back to them as they're giving to us. And thanks to everybody that likes the band.
